Get to know me

I am a social worker practicing in Maryland and Virginia. I graduated from Hollins University in Roanoke, VA where I earned my bachelor's degree with a major in sociology and minor in psychology. I then obtained my master's degree in social work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work.

Prior to entering private practice, I worked across different settings in the mental health field. I have experience in community mental health, inpatient psychiatric care, and case management. These experiences exposed me to clients of all walks of life facing different challenges. I had the opportunity to develop and improve my clinical skills.

My work experiences and education have shaped how I approach each case. I believe a person's stressors and experiences cannot be separated from their support network, home environment, community, society and medical systems that they navigate. I believe the various systems we move through and barriers we face have a direct impact on our mental well-being and assessing these areas is an integral part of mental health treatment.

In addition to my education and work experiences, my lived experiences shape and inform my therapeutic work. I became passionate about perinatal mental health treatment after my own postpartum experience following the birth of my oldest child in 2019.  I am also a military spouse and passionate about supporting fellow military spouses, particularly those associated with the Intelligence Community (IC).

My clinical approach is based in feminism, systems theory, and humanistic psychology. I use an eclectic approach pulling skills and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). If you would like to know more about my approach, and what it means for you, please contact me for a free consult.

Therapy that fits into your life.

You are busy enough. Therapy shouldn't feel like another commitment added to your schedule. My hope is to not only give you a safe and validating space to process your emotions, but to give you effective skills to cope with your life experiences so that one day you feel like you don’t "need" therapy anymore.
